Vintage Knitting

Our super Vintage Knits 335 Booklet is a must for all those people who love good quality vintage designs.

We are really lucky here with our huge archive of patterns dating back, we believe, pre-war (alot are undated).  I especially love the ones from the 1930's and 1940's but the retro ones are equally as appealing.

Take a look at the fabulous selection in this book.

Happy Knitting - please feel free to send in photographs of finished items as we would love to see them and also put on the Blog (if you are in agreement).

How times have changed!

A couple of months ago a lady called Mrs Lane very kindly offered to send me the attached Twilleys of Stamford pattern .  She was clearing out her attic and hoping to contribute to our fabulous archive we have here.  As you can see it is for a knitted health vest in Twilleys' No. 1.

Unfortunately I never received the package - lost in transit - but I thought I would just show it for posterity!

A huge thank you to Mrs Lane and we are only sorry we never received it.

Purity "Eco" Chunky Wool

People just can't get enough of our Purity Chunky Wool and we have added two new leaflets to the design support.

We receive comments regularly about how lovely this yarn is to knit with and also its wearability - the perfect combination and with eight natural shades to choose from you really are spoiled for choice.

Freedom Wool - New leaflets

The Knitter - Issue 35 - September

We have a wonderful Vintage pattern featured in The Knitter magazine leaflet 99 from 1958.

The Knitter very kindly adapted the pattern from three sizes to 32in up to 46in.  Originally the pattern used Wendy Fashionfleck DK but the updated version used Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Spirit in Hope 521.

The pattern has a very elegant neckline and I am sure you will agree looks lovely.

Thank you to The Knitter.

If anyone knits it up please send a photograph - Happy Knitting.

Betty and Adrian Topping of The Irish Wool Store  presented in excess of 1,000 hats to a Major and Captain of 1 Mercian Regiment who are currently serving in Afghanistan

The above photographs are from the press - with the Mayor presenting the consignment of hats to the above officers.
